Question 1

What is a bacteria-resistant hot tub?

Accepted Answer

A bacteria-resistant hot tub uses a non-porous shell — on Eco Spa, one-piece HDPE — so biofilm cannot colonize microscopic pores the way it does on acrylic. You still sanitize, but the tub is not fighting its own surface.

Question 2

How does the shell connect to Ecozone?

Accepted Answer

Ecozone ozone oxidizes contaminants in the water. The bacteria-resistant HDPE shell removes the breeding ground on the surface. Together they enable the low-chemical routine — about 90% fewer chemicals — without claiming chemical-free.

Question 3

Why does shell material affect bacteria?

Accepted Answer

Acrylic is porous at a microscopic level, so biofilm can establish on the surface and never fully scrub out. HDPE is non-porous and chemically inert, which is why it is used for food-grade and chemical storage tanks. There is nowhere on the surface for a colony to take hold.

Question 4

Does that mean I do not need to sanitise?

Accepted Answer

No. Bacteria arrive with people, not just from the shell, so you still carry a sanitiser residual. What changes is that the tub is not fighting its own surface, which is a large part of why the routine stays short.

Question 5

How do I clean an HDPE shell?

Accepted Answer

Drain, wipe, rinse, refill. There is no sealed finish to strip and no porous surface holding onto anything, so it is a genuinely quick job compared with scrubbing acrylic that never quite comes clean.

Question 6

Will it discolour or craze over time?

Accepted Answer

HDPE is UV-stable and has no bonded top layer to craze or peel. It will not develop the fine surface cracking that acrylic can after years of heat cycling.
