Before You Go
A hot tub is one of those purchases where the specification sheet stops being useful quite early. You can read that a shell is one continuous piece of rotationally moulded HDPE, and it is true, but it does not tell you what the surface feels like under your hand. Shows exist so you can close that gap in about ten minutes.
The three things worth doing at the booth are simple. Run your hand across the shell and feel that there is no seam and no join anywhere on it. Lift the hard cover, because the weight and rigidity of a cover is the single best predictor of what a tub will cost you to run over ten years. And sit in it dry, which tells you more about whether a footprint suits you than any measurement will.
Ask what the shell is actually made of and how it is constructed, not just what it looks like. Ask what the warranty covers, for how long, and whether it is prorated. Ask what the cover is rated to and what it costs to replace when it fails, because on most tubs it will. Ask what the thing genuinely costs to run in a BC winter and be sceptical of anyone who answers with a single exact number, since the honest answer is a range that depends on the season, your usage and your voltage. If the answers get vague, that is information too.
We have written our own answers to all of those out in full, with the reasoning behind them, on the science page and on The Truth.
Booth sizes on this schedule range from ten by twenty to twenty by twenty feet, so what is physically on the floor varies from show to show and not every model travels to every event. If you already know which model you are weighing up and you want time with it specifically, a showroom visit is the better use of an afternoon. If you are still working out whether an Eco Spa is the right category of thing at all, a show is ideal, because you can walk the aisle and put us next to everyone else in one go. We would rather you did that with our tub in front of you than take our word for it on a page.
