That works in your favour twice over: newer decks are generally built to a known and documented spec rather than whatever a previous owner did in 1978, and lots tend to have proper side access rather than a heritage squeeze.

Newer construction also means more of these homes already have a suitable pad, patio or paving-stone area near the house.
