Buying in Port Alberni

Port Alberni sits far enough inland, at the head of the Alberni Inlet, that it runs a genuinely different climate than the coastal towns on either side of it along Highway 4. Winters get colder and summers get hotter than Tofino or Qualicum Beach see at similar latitudes, and buyers here are usually thinking about a real cold snap, not just island rain.

The town's forestry and fishing roots show up in the property types too, larger lots, working yards, and often a workshop or a boat trailer already parked where a hot tub might otherwise go. No concrete pad and no electrician means it slots into that kind of yard without competing for space or trades with whatever else is already going on there.

Does the shell handle actual frost and snow load, not just island rain?

Yes. The R-40 hard cover carries a 350 lb load rating for snow, and the one-piece HDPE shell doesn't crack the way a cheaper acrylic shell can when the temperature actually drops.

My lot is bigger and not fully landscaped, does that matter for placement?
