Who the E1 Is For

The E1 is the answer to a specific problem: you want a real hot tub and you do not have the space that most hot tubs assume. At 72" by 60" it covers about 30.0 square feet, and at 30" tall it is the shortest tub in the range. On a condo deck or a narrow side yard, those two numbers are usually the whole decision.

It seats 2 to 4. Take that honestly: 4 adults fit, but 2 to 3 is where it is comfortable. It is also the lowest-priced tub we build at $11,999, which makes it the one people buy when they are not yet certain they will become hot tub people. Most of them do.

The Trade-off, Stated Plainly

The E1 runs 12 jets. That is the fewest in the lineup, and if hydrotherapy is the reason you are buying, the E3 at 23 jets or the E5 Deluxe at 35 is a better use of your money. The E1 is built around soaking rather than massage. Its 30" height also means the water sits shallower than the 33" and 35" tubs, which matters if you are tall and want your shoulders under.

What it does not compromise on is the part that decides how long a hot tub lasts. Same one-piece HDPE shell, same R-40 lifetime hard cover, same lifetime shell warranty, same 5x filtration as the flagship. Nothing structural was cheapened to hit the price.

Will Your Deck Take It?

Full and in use, the E1 works out to roughly 2,848 lbs: 360 lbs dry, 212 gallons of water, and 4 adults. Spread over 30.0 square feet that is about 95 lbs per square foot. It is the lightest loaded figure in the range, which is exactly why it is the model that most often works on an existing deck without reinforcement.

Most residential decks in BC are built to carry considerably less than that as a live load, so this is a question to answer before delivery rather than after. A ground-level patio, compacted gravel or pavers takes it without any of this arithmetic. There is no concrete pad required either way, which the concrete pad guide goes through properly.

Running It

At 212 gallons the E1 holds less water than anything else in the range except the E2, so it reaches temperature faster from a cold fill and recovers quickly after a soak. Expect roughly $10 to $40 a month in BC depending on season and whether you run it on 110V or 220V. It ships wired for both.

E1 or E2?

They are close in price and they solve different problems. The E1 is wider and shallower and seats up to 4; the E2 is narrower at 46" and deeper at 33", seats two properly, and carries 21 jets to the E1's 12. Choose the E1 for occasional extra bodies, the E2 for a tight access route and more jets for two people. If you want the popular middle ground, that is the E3.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the E1 fit on a condo deck?

Its 72" by 60" footprint and 30" height make it the smallest tub in the range, which is why it is the one that most often works on a deck. Filled and occupied it works out to roughly 95 lbs per square foot, so on a raised deck confirm the structure can carry that before you order. On a patio or gravel there is nothing to check.

How many people really fit in an Eco Spa E1?

It is rated 2 to 4. Two to three is where it is comfortable; 4 adults fit but it is close. If four will be in it regularly, look at the E4 instead.

Does the E1 have a smaller warranty than the bigger models?

No. The lifetime HDPE shell warranty, the lifetime hard cover, the 5x filtration and the 110V/220V convertibility are identical across every model. Price differences are jets, seats and lighting, never structure.
